I don't know if my feminist critiques of Eida are intentional writing or something in society that I can read into her character, but that doesn't make the framing less valid. Authorial intent and literary criticism are two disparate yet converging things. Sometime they align; sometimes they don't.

I've had a theory in the back of my head (100% unproven) that just as Eida can't see anything before her birth, maybe Koji can't see anything after his death, which is why so many futures end in disaster. But it could also be why he has the "all is lost" reaction to seeing Borushiki.
