#ekklēsia
The English word 'ecclesiastical' is derived from Ancient Greek 'ekklēsíā', which meant "assembly, congregation", and later "church".

You wouldn't say it at first glance, but it's 'ekklēsíā' that became French 'église', Italian 'chiesa', Spanish 'iglesia', Portuguese 'igreja' – and many more:

The people trying to immanentize the eschaton and the people preaching God‘s holy judgment have like switched sides from 20 years ago, wild times in the ekklesia.

Qué basado Tyndale al traducir ἐκκλησία (ekklēsía) como "congregation" en vez de "church"

Ecclesia in Latin, ekklesia in koine Greek are both grammatically feminine.

97. Who is the archetypal Athenian in T.’s view? Three possibilities: Demosthenes (muddling through, sometimes unreasonably lucky); an anonymous member of the ekklesia, with all that implies; Thucydides himself, who of course introduces himself in precisely those terms.

Fun fact: the Greek word ekklesia, which gives us the Latin word for church, originally referred to a local assembly called together to handle things like this.

Okay, maybe that's less "fun" than "boring."
Civic engagement isn't always about fighting off fascists. Often it involves incredibly boring but important stuff like sewer management and municipal budgets
I take your point, but not a single one of the candidate races I'll be voting in today is contested. There are, however, two propositions relating to relaxing the state constitution's debt limits for small city school districts and sewage facility construction initiatives, which I plan to approve.

People are out here on the Internet, acting like a bunch of gay Catholics making pilgrimage to Rome in a rainbow of colors is a rejection of Nicaea or something. And acting like Ekklesia, the word, means “the perfect!”

Such confusion of priorities is very much like Augustine’s “concupiscence.”
Yeah that works in the sense that it’s too focused on the infraction. Inasmuch as it becomes a priority that all other truth serves — that’s actually just a disordered hierarchy of truth there.

pensando aqui que talvez uma das maiores causas do demiurguismo cultural é que é muito difícil manter uma congregação, uma ekklesia, reunida seriamente em torno de um Mistério definido de maneira estritamente apofática

A Christian is a person who places their faith in Jesus Christ, follows His teachings, and practices EKKLESIA

EKKLESIA is more than, and can never be reduced to, a physical church building. It refers to the community of people who gather as followers of Christ.

Perhaps I must turn my faith to the inner spiritual church, the church within the church, as the true ekklesia and the hope of the world. But again I am thankful to God that some noble souls from the ranks of organized religion have broken loose...

Disciple-making isn’t just trying to get people into church/Ekklesia. It’s getting Ekklesia into people. Into their households and circles of influence. Daily. It’s relationship not rituals. Jesus said follow Me, not see you next week. Come and see is an invitation to community, not an event.✌🏼

What he's praying about the "ekklesia" means: Christians are the real legislature & a colonizing, governing class appointed from heaven on the earth.

Mind you, he's praying over ACTUAL state legislators.

I have a whole chapter on this theology & its originator, Dutch Sheets, in my book. 4/
