Few Electronika 60 computers still exist, but the painstakingly accurate re-creation in #TetrisForever allows everyone to play the origins of Tetris for themselves. It's one of more than 15 games available in the latest #GoldMasterSeres project, out now: digitaleclipse.com/games/tetrisforever

The first version of Tetris was built on an Electronika 60. Very few of these computers still exist, so we've built an accurate re-creation so everyone can play it! It's one of more than 15 games available in #TetrisForever, out now on console & PC: digitaleclipse.com/games/tetrisforever

Steam players, we’ve just pushed a #TetrisForever update that enables custom control configurations for all games, including the MS-DOS, Apple II & Electronika 60. You'll find this option at each game's Pause menu.
More improvements are in the works. Thanks for your feedback!

I played Tetris Forever tonight.
Seeing Alexey talk about the genesis of Tetris through childhood books and toys, then seeing the machine it was coded on, THEN being able to play the original Electronika version as it would have existed in '85 in Russian no less - wow @digitaleclipse.bsky.social

also it’s incredible to me how fully formed Tetris was in its first incarnation. the next indicator, speeding up after each line, hard drops, almost everything was already there on the Electronika-60

The first version of Tetris feels oddly completely finished, they basically only fine-tuned a few things after this.
Really quite interesting to see the evolution.

42 years ago Today, Alexey Pajitnov developed the first version of Tetris on an Electronika 60 terminal computer. Having sold over 170 million copies worldwide, it still stands as one of the world’s most successful games.

The OG Electronika 60 version of Tetris being on here is great, as that means people no longer have to rely on fan recreations or second-hand camcorder footage from that museum.
