Teaching myself NestJS at 60, because what the hell.

BTW #NestJS reminds me very much of #EmberJS which I was fairly proficient at over a decade ago.

I am such a slow learner. Been playing around with EmberJS and handlebars for the last few hours and still can't really do much of anything

ember-cli-mirage doesn't work with Vite. Our @nickschot.bsky.social has written a guide about how to migrate to ember-mirage instead, so your MirageJS test setup keeps working with Embroider and Vite.

Technical feasibility of an AI tutoring assistant
Just to say you could shortcut a lot of the work and build it as a plugin on top of Discourse. (for reference this site is a Discourse instance.) This would take care of: * User accounts and authentication * Provision of a database and cache layer (industry standard Postgres and Redis) * Provision of extensible job scheduling system (industry standard Sidekiq) * Provision of an extensible webserver and front end framework (Industry standard Ruby on Rails and EmberJS) * Provision of a reverse proxy and scripted certificate automation. * Reusable, user profile, chat and topic system out of the box and as an ongoing open source project a lot of maintenance would be done for you to the core functionality. It allows you to get a website up in minutes with all the capabilities of an app server that you can customise. EmberJS gives you an app like experience which is very modern and touch device compatible. I’ve been writing Discourse plugins for nearly a decade and can highly recommend it as a base platform. It’s a very well maintained and modern platform. I’ve had many clients who’ve built on top of it for just the reasons stated above. Out of the box it already has a lot of AI capabilities, and fun fact, I wrote it’s first AI chatbot for Discourse as a plugin a few years ago: github.com ### GitHub - merefield/discourse-chatbot: An AI bot with RAG capability for Topics, Chat &... An AI bot with RAG capability for Topics, Chat & Customer Support in Discourse, currently powered by OpenAI Here’s an install guide for Discourse: github.com/discourse/discourse #### docs/INSTALL.md main To install and self-host Discourse, follow the steps below. But if you'd rather skip the setup, maintenance, and server management, our official Discourse hosting takes care of everything for you. 👉 [Learn more about Discourse hosting](https://discourse.org/pricing) # How Do I Install Discourse? > :bell: The only officially supported installs of Discourse are [Docker](https://www.docker.io/) based. You must have SSH access to a 64-bit Linux server **with Docker support**. We regret that we cannot support any other methods of installation including cpanel, plesk, webmin, etc. Simple 10 minute basic install: [**Beginner Docker install guide**][basic] Powerful, flexible, large / multiple server install: [**Advanced Docker install guide**][advanced] ### Why do you only officially support Docker? Hosting Rails applications is complicated. Even if you already have Postgres, Redis and Ruby installed on your server, you still need to worry about running and monitoring your Sidekiq and Rails processes, as well as configuring Nginx. With Docker, our fully optimized Discourse configuration is available to you in a simple container, along with a web-based GUI that makes upgrading to new versions of Discourse as easy as clicking a button. ### Hardware Requirements This file has been truncated. show original It’s very easy to self host.
