🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: 18-year-old Arya Satheesh from Ireland has developed a plant-based plastic that can biodegrade and release an enzyme that helps break down other plastic waste.

A plastic that could actually help clean up plastic waste.

It’s an RNA world. RNA is posited to be the first genetic material, arising 4 billion years ago. It can store information and act as an enzyme. Eventually, it duplicated its information into a more stable form, DNA.

The Baker lab seems serious about moving into enzyme design.

Here, they train a flow-matching model that can be conditioned by atomic coordinates and then use it to design enzymes based on active site geometry specified by density functional theory.

So bloodwork showed one fucked liver enzyme and bilirubin which we'd expect. No I don't know which enzyme I haven't actually seen the bloodwork result.

The ultrasound showed nothing too weird except enlarged and 'bright' liver. Which based on the bloodwork and her jaundice, no surprise.
