Wind in the tree makes farmer and friend have to bury weird chickens.

Pretty sure it was Epicurius who said that.

Everyone busts their nut over the stoics but I think epicurius is the one who's basically right

Interesting! I'm no expert in the philosophy here, but Epicurius' thoughts on balancing pain and pleasure does feel somewhat appropriate to the themes of Good Omens.

On the one hand, glad someone is going to chew from the fat to the marrow, but on the other Immagonna check in with the crazy madness in small bites at my own pace. #Inner_Peace as a priority, forces me to diet: food, alcohol, news, all in proportion, nothing in excess. #Epicurius

I always enjoyed Epicurius the Sage from Sam Keith. Such an amazing talent who left us too soon 😢

This seems like a purposeful narrowing of the definition to only include his pet theory.

If you have someone like Epicurius, who teaches that higher powers like gods exist but have no part in human affairs and so should be ignored, that still counts as participating in religion?

Azem originally came to Amaurot from another nation of the ancient world with Norse inspired motifs and his birth name was Baldur (god of light, son of Odin).

When he left his home and came to Amaurot, he changed his name to Epicurius (an epithet of Apollo, who we all know).

Then he became Azem!

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”
~Epicurius, Greek philosopher
