Wind in the tree makes farmer and friend have to bury weird chickens.

Pretty sure it was Epicurius who said that.

But also Epicurius. Not what we have but what we enjoy constitutes our abundance.

Better to have a good life than to die alone and miserable hoping there is such a thing as a soul.

Balance it all. But be happy.

Interesting! I'm no expert in the philosophy here, but Epicurius' thoughts on balancing pain and pleasure does feel somewhat appropriate to the themes of Good Omens.

Epicurius is also the name of a Greek philosopher who spoke on living moderate lives focused on living moderate lives and avoiding pain and fear, particularly the fear of death. The tragedy of Azem’s life lies in both the truth and fallacies of that philosophy- Azem avoided death and pain so much-

Azem originally came to Amaurot from another nation of the ancient world with Norse inspired motifs and his birth name was Baldur (god of light, son of Odin).

When he left his home and came to Amaurot, he changed his name to Epicurius (an epithet of Apollo, who we all know).

Then he became Azem!

What was your WoL's Ancient name? What was your inspiration for it?

Listening to Seneca’s Moral Letters to Lucillius and his “debts” of always adding quotations from Epicurius are endearing.

Good morning #BlueSky

“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”

#Life isn’t a hero’s journey … it’s a bar tab.

Stop raising the bar.

Lower it until you can trip over it drunk and still call it progress.

The freedom of lowering your expectations
Dream big? Please. Lowering your expectations is the only real path to freedom, but you won’t do it. Because you still think you’re special.

Earlier in the year, along side many other archaeological sites I visited the so called 'Parthenon of the Peloponnese' aka Temple of Apollo Epicurius.

Not as many columns as the one in Athens, but a lot less busy.

It's all now undercover.

Coming back to this, one thing that I always found interesting was that people found treatises like Hobbes, Hume, Kant, Epicurius, and Epictitus very easy to unterstand. Mills is obvious. But Rawls just broke some people because it requires a break from egocentrism that is so abstract
