#era:1800s
In conventional history, the late 1800s is known as the ‘Gilded Age.’

For Black Americans, it’s the Nadir – an era marked by Black community and resistance despite oppression and disfranchisement. And the 2nd Nadir is here, says Nikole Hannah-Jones. She joins me at 10aET on #Velshi

Fascinating look at how "spontaneous remission" of many cancers (only 76 documented cases since 1800s): are associated w/infections triggering immune response. "Make an infection near tumor" was documented treatment as far back as ancient Egypt. Preferred method (52% success rate) until modern era

Hmm, I wonder why he considers the late 1800s a good era?

Soup kitchens and other food welfare programs date back to the mid to late 1800s in Victorian era England. It’s an interesting history.

It's fun reading old 1800s era optics papers where scientists refer to studying a phenomenon "whenever the sun allows."

Leftists rehashing debates from the 1800s over authority and authoritarianism as terms in the midst of fascism is such an indictment of what leftism means in this era. To say people are stuck is an understatement.

what we do in the shadows 🦇 For the anniversary of Virgil’s first appearance, and as a second installment to the Era Looks, we chose a look inspired by the late 1800s, where vampires were really starting to enter mainstream. This was a fun one! Happy Bday, Virge! 💜

I drew a scene from @jtmorganwrites.bsky.social ‘s YA novel THISTLE AND DOWN, about a girl in 1800s Leeds who’s pregnant and working in a textile mill run by Faeries 🧚

(She’s currently seeking rep, if any agents have queries open and want an excellent historical fantasy fey story 👀)

Caro Claire Burke’s new novel, “Yesteryear,” tells the tale of a tradwife influencer who has time-traveled to the actual 1800s.

The resulting book is juicy, vindictive, and loads of fun.

In Caro Claire Burke’s new novel, “Yesteryear,” an influencer gets stuck in the era she fetishizes.

Just wanna point out that “late 1800s” is in fact the nineteenth century

And 1600 era constables are not modern policing

Amtrak needs to realize that a once daily train on any route is bad 19th century (1800s era) thinking that never should have been considered from day 1 in 1971 let alone today, 54 years hence.

At least it's not a "mixed train daily", but still.

Squash is a new world food so clearly I'm not talking about the Normal era influence of why English has words like beef and cow. I'm literally taking about a food fad from IRRC the 1800s where it became trendy to use French culinary terms.
If you want to call the Norman Conquest a “weird linguistic food fad” I guess? 😂🤷‍♀️
The brits called eggplant aubergine, based on the (purple) Italian varietal that we got later.

Also, many British words for veggies are actually French because of a weird linguistic food fad. That's why they say courgette and we say zucchini.

Grateful I realized Nolan’s initial design was boring as shit and remade him entirely

Also at the time MWG’s concept was a slice-of-life ambiguously modern era setting. It’s obviously more medieval/fantasy 1800s now.

While the answer may seem obvious, in an era of misinformation, it may be hard to find the facts & science.

Climate change refers to long-term temperature & weather shifts, which can occur naturally but have been mainly driven by human activity since the 1800s: www.un.org/en/climatech...

For the smart-ass who asked if I'd ever been young.
Yep I was.
Also cuter than hell, so I could get away with a LOT.
