mtbe replaced lead, but mtbe is a groundwater pollutant. It's really bad in part because the human senses can detect it at really really low thresholds.

Etwas Wasser und ETBE muss man dem Ethanol zusetzen sonst wird das Zeug ungemütlich im Viertakter und man muss einmal schauen, was an Dichtungen nicht aus Teflon, Papier oder TPU ist, weil Gummi / Buna / Butyl eben Heptan / Oktan braucht um weich zu bleiben.
