That's both an ethical fact and a *physical* fact. Prepubescent children do not have significantly differentiated reproductive phenotypes. There's no hormones to replace, no developed organs to operate on.

It should be restarted from scratch with all of it's funding, resources and training data pulled.
That's the only way to make it ethical.
Start again from an ethical standpoint from day one.
You can't make something inherently unethical into something ethical by merely regulating it.
