Chomsky certainly had an influence in linguistic anthropology, you can see that in Silverstein's shifers paper or Durbin's attempt to wed ethnoscience with transformational grammar, but much linguistic anthropology was a reaction against Chomsky, Basso's metaphor paper

Murray makes the point that just because you studied with someone doesn't mean you accept their premises, ethnoscience at Yale a good example, Conklin Goodenough & Lounsbury all studied with Murdock, but all were committed to an inductive approach that was the opposite of Murdock

I know the piece feels old-fashioned now, with its talk of emics and etics, typology, and the ethnoscience tradition. It's that... and it's so much more. So ambitious, grounded in embodied cognition and practice before those were commonplace.
