Working in a sword and sorcery mode, my brain wants to shy away from gonzo. Which I think is a good instinct. But also... Fafhrd and the Mouser fought a living tower and encountered hate itself.
High magic is out, though. No faerie dust or evlish councils in these parts. Devils are right in.

If you'll forgive the LOTR reference, he's like Saruman in the Shire, determined to damage as much as he can before he's forced out. Unfortunately, we don't have magical evlish dirt or seeds to undo his harm; it'll just take effort and lot and lots of time.

I'm finishing a sketch this belongs to but I just realized once I resize the image you're not going to be able to read the elvish I spent too much time trying to write out LOL, also its upside down in the sketch XD

Those sound like excellent places to start. Evlish Archdruid was the first one I thought of, but getting that to work in this Standard would be a nightmare. The kami is a much better idea.

Yes as noted in my post the monologue in the silmarillion does. Even goes so far as to explain the etymology as coming from the Evlish root maya- "excellent, admirable".

Rowans first language is evlish, then they speak celestial as a second language then they learnt common once they were an adult to move away from their family and move to a city, as wood elves tend to live in nature

applies to both versions: after being released they only spoke ancient evlish and had to learn the new common language due to his pefect memory (and generally being raised to be as smart as possible) it was quite easy for sage/smc but tr/pvc still struggle
