When I was on the job market, I did a thread of the first 20ish TT jobs on EvolDir that I was qualified for. Over half of them were in places I would be unsafe as a trans person, and as this was 2022/23, I imagine it would be even higher proportion now.
No one ever talks about the academic jobs that marginalized folks won’t apply to because of state or institutional reputation for hostility towards their group. Again, who it really at a disadvantage in any job market? 🙃

We have a ca 1.5 yr postdoc available in our team, asking, 'what is the shape of the fitness landscape between oviparity and viviparity?' and 'what drives viviparity to evolve'? 🧬 using 🦎 as a model. closes 16 Sept. Details on EvolDir

Not that I know of; sometimes EvolDir will post PhD positions but not always. A lot of programs just have something like a dozen available GTA lines a year and pick the "best" potential new students to fill them, but they don't necessarily advertise these as jobs per se.

Bit sad to no longer be running the bot that forwarded EvolDir emails to Bluesky (and before that, Twitter), but at the same time relieved that @eseb.bsky.social has taken over responsibility for that task. If you are into evolution in any way, follow @evoldir.bsky.social for conferences, jobs, etc.

Same goes for @entcollnet.bsky.social if you're in the collections space:
