Exponentials everywhere
All real exponentials are, eventually, sigmoid.
This is the world I hope we're getting: One where 1) progress is loosely sigmoid, not because there's any fixed cap, but because the initial overhang of human training data has been exploited, and 2) open models can come close to catching up, because of #1.

I understand that the terrorist attack that killed 1000 people in Israel warranted action.
I cannot understand how that action can be starving babies and bombing hospitals in hopes you might catch a terrorist.
Trauma is not an excuse to magnify the horrors by exponentials.
It's genocide.

In general, exponentials are just really weird! Like if in 3 years, computers are twice is fast, that means half of the growth that ever happened was during the last three years. This is just obvious math but somehow stating it feels mind-blowing.

I’m disappointed they didn’t come up with a complicated looking formula: greek letters, exponentials, the works, but just all calculated out to ‘34’.

It's basically impossible for the extremely rich to actually lose money, because of how math works.
The same exponentials used to describe why perpetual motion machines are impossible, describes why it's impossible for a wealthy person to really, truly lose their wealth.

It's basically impossible for the extremely rich to actually lose money, because of how math works.
