The targets include journalists, activists, politicians, and diplomats. Orwell had a word for getting caught with the wrong look on your face. He called it FACECRIME. He just didn't picture it shipping in a phone. It's not paranoia.

Orwell’s 1984 novel introduced us to the legal term “facecrime,” where one would face punishment for wearing an unapproved facial expression.

I suggest that gentleman should flee, at once.

Kneale’s emphasis on the telescreens - often in the background of shots, keeping its eye on us - also shifts the emphasis from thoughtcrime to facecrime, as Winston worries less about what he says and more about how he appears #kneale1984

...In any case, to wear an improper expression on your face ... was itself a punishable offense. There was even a word for it in Newspeak: facecrime.

It's called a "facecrime" in Orwell's 1984. Making unenthusiastic facial expressions. It can be considered a thoughtcrime by the Thought Police. With AI and facial recognition the nightmare becomes automated. Stupid, illiterate people in neoliberal dystopia make it a reality. #BlueMaga #RedMaga

Thoughtcrime - Having thoughts that questioned the Party or Big Brother. Even facial expressions that suggested skepticism could constitute "facecrime."

“It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety... there was a word for it: Facecrime."
