"rein in"

The notion that it's "out of control" is a right-wing fallacy.

For today's "One First," I wrote about the California voter roll litigation and the "base rate fallacy"—which, in the election context, manifests as the risk of disenfranchising a significant number of eligible voters in the course of hunting for a proportionally miniscule number of ineligible ones:
260. Elections and the Base Rate Fallacy
The California voter roll litigation is a useful illustration of “election integrity” claims that would exclude far more eligible votes than ineligible ones.

A big fallacy of reading ideology into media is assuming that it precludes any other ideology from occupying the same space.

It's like an addendum to the two goombas fallacy, if you combine arguments from different sources you can make yourself believe all of your opponents are incoherent

Yes. Black voters have out-mobilized voter suppression before - and the suppressionists have tried to point to that civic energy as proof that voter suppression is a fallacy; it is not. Similarly, granting the vote but robbing representation (as Callais permits) may backfire for the same reason.
Black turnout across the South is through the roof and the national media seems to be ignorant of the fact that effectively ending the VRA is part of a broader effort to roll back democracy. Black voters are mobilizing in response. For a region with perpetually low turnout, this is huge.
