Another image of yesterday's Red-flanked Bluetail (Tarsiger cyanurus). Her hairdo is a bit of a mess from being inside the ringing bag 😄 #BirdingHungary #bluetails #flycatchers #chats #ringing #banding #FallMigration2026

A beautiful Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos) at the ringing camp. A summer resident but a few hang around during mild winters. #BirdingHungary #thrushes #FallMigration2026 #BirdsSeenIn2026

Great bird at the ringing camp today... Red-flanked Bluetail (Tarsiger cyanurus). Rare in Hungary. Shows up about once every 4 or 5 years. #BirdingHungary #BirdsSeenIn2026 #chats #flycatchers #FallMigration2026

Yesterday I posted a Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita) in the reeds. Here's a better look at one. The commonest Phylloscopus warbler around here. Plain, but a distinctive voice and downward tail pump. #BirdingHungary #warblers #chiffchaffs #FallMigration2026

Lousy phonescope photo of a great bird. Lots of twitchers today in Vesprém to see Hungary's first ever Desert Wheatear (Oenanthe deserti). First record but a vagrant that has been overdue. #BirdingHungary #BirdsSeenIn2026 #wheatears #FallMigration2026

One more for #WaderWednesday A cute little Dunlin (Calidris alpina). Strictly a passage bird in Hungary, heading to the Mediterranean Basin and North Africa for the winter. #BirdingHungary #FallMigration2026 #shorebirds #waders #sandpipers

Speaking of common birds, here's that bundle of twitchiness and constant motion known as a White Wagtail (Motacilla alba). This is a juvenile. Over the past month, billions have been moving through... anywhere where there is little bit of water. #BirdingHungary #wagtails #FallMigration2026

That colour-ringed Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) I saw last weekend was still at the same location today. This photo is thru my scope. #BirdingHungary #godwits #shorebirds #waders #FallMigration2026

So many Ruddy Turnstones (Arenaria interpres) around this fall migration. Much more than usual, although still uncommon. Probably because so much habitat on the larger lakes and rivers, a consequence of the extended drought during the summer. #BirdingHungary #waders #shorebirds #FallMigration2026

Dutchess NY: This past Sunday 9/20/2026 rained heavily all day. 2 waves of Warblers & Hummingbirds passed through my property, creating a spectacular show. Here is a Northern Parula in the rain in my front yard. #northernparula #parula #birds #birdwatching #fallmigration2026

Dutchess NY, saw this Ovenbird up my hill this past Sunday, rain, rain, rain… He caught a moth late in the evening & hiding under a bush eating it; I almost couldn’t see him in the darkness! #ovenbird #birds #birdwatching #wildlife #fallmigration2026

Dutchess County NY, a few more pictures of the Blackburnian Warbler by my pond. I am so very happy I didn’t need to leave my house to go see these birds! #blackburnianwarbler #fallmigration2026 #warblers #birds #birdwatching #wildlife

Dutchess County NY, a few pictures of the Blackburnian Warbler by my pond. If I remember correctly I think this is the first Blackburnian showed up in my property, same as the Hooded. #blackburnianwarbler #fallmigration2026 #warblers #birds #birdwatching #wildlife

Dutchess NY, outside my driveway during the rain on Sunday 9/20/2026: My first Dark-eyed Junco for this Fall migration, but this one looks much darker than the ones I had seen before. Slate-colored perhaps? #darkeyedjunco #juncos #birds #birdwatching #wildlife #fallmigration2026
