Street in the Old City of Sana’a, capital of #Yemen. White lined doors and windows set in brown stone or clay buildings dominate the #architecture, not only here. Even more impressive is the souk; I will never forget the travels I was privileged to do between the wars with my father, who worked in technical development projects around the #Arabic world

Entry of the decorated entry and pathway in Gavrinis, Morbihan, Bretagne, France. Man-high stone slabs are intricately engraved with waves, half circles from top to bottom. Similar designs can be found all over the British isles, Scotland and Ireland.

Picture depicting the entry stone at Bru Na Boine, aka Newgrange. Famous for its triple spiral or triskele and yet another breathtaking Neolithic design the valley in Ireland has to offer. No metal was used to incise any of the kerbstones found around Knowth, Dowth or Newgrange.

An intriguing example of Islamic architecture, where no being is depicted, but texts of the Quran, mosaics of various geometric shapes in subtle as well as vibrant colours and the most wonderful little courtyards and gardens. A building full of history, bloody at times, but always full of lessons.

Picture of a very detailed and colourful astrological clock in the Cathedral of Münster, a city full of churches and history. Brown and golden dominate the colour scheme as you would expect from a medieval stone building. Showing moon phases as well as zodiacs and other scientific depictions. You will also find the market in front of the Cathedral; well worth a visit.
