#fibrosis—while
WTH ?

My family is freaking out about my son losing a lifesaving medication for cystic fibrosis. My family is going into crisis mode all while Musk is talking condoms in the Oval Office .

Someone, ask the kid about the damn condoms. 😡
Reporter: You said an example of fraud that you have cited was $50 million of condoms was sent to Gaza but after a fact-check apparently it was Gaza in Mozambique meant to protect them against HIV.

Musk: First of all, some of the things I say will be incorrect

“While drug shortages have become a problem globally in recent years, the UK is facing “a worsening situation” compared with the rest of Europe because of Brexit”

Excellent work, Brexiters.
Absolutely nailing our sovereign right to be self-harmingly idiotic.

We are very proud of my son who has struggles w/ cystic fibrosis.

He has worked very hard for the grades earned at GMU.

He grinded through pain and finished papers for his finals while in the hospital recently.🏥♥️

He has hopes of returning to the Hill to advocate for healthcare and the ACA ⚕️

A 24-week phase 3 trial has found that once-daily vanzacaftor-tezacaftor-deutivacaftor is generally safe and well tolerated in children with cystic fibrosis aged 6-11 years. The treatment maintains normal baseline lung function.

Susan is one of the bravest people I know, fighting stage 4 cancer for herself and for her son's life with cystic fibrosis while always working for health care for all.

How does your mean-spirited, uncompassionate post help you or anyone?

One of the reasons I’ve decided to forgo conventions for a while is that I want to spend more time with my elderly aunt who has pulmonary fibrosis. The coast is her fav so we took her out to see the ocean. The waves were very high and there was a shipwreck.

I agree 💯 with @markhamillofficial.bsky.social !

All of this while people like me are sick with cancer.

My son suffers from cystic fibrosis.

We are both fighting hard to protect our healthcare , Medicaid and Medicare .

Are we angry yet ?
We should be ashamed of ourselves for not appreciating him breaking the law. ✈️ 💰 🙏

@rebeccawallis.bsky.social is part-time microbiologist, part-time artist 🎨 👩‍🎨. While she's working hard growing cystic fibrosis lung microbes on McKay agar, she's also finding a tiny microverse.

NIH’s success — the advances in cancer cures, cystic fibrosis, antivirals, child health — came while NIH was effectively independent of the president and controlled by Congress.

We must go back to that again.
“The ban on postings to the Fed Register also reflects a new and more ominous trend. For 80 years NIH has been largely independent of presidential control.”

“Congress, not the President, should set scientific priorities”

Key takeaway for 🧪.

My dad, papabrewista, has been battling a terminal respiratory disease (pulmonary fibrosis) for most of the year. While visiting this weekend, we had to take him into the ER and he was checked into the hospital. (1/4)

As a pulmonologist, it's really difficult to understate how transformative Trikafta and its sibling drugs have been for patients with cystic fibrosis.

While these advances seem miraculous, they are actually the product of DECADES of NIH-backed research—research that is now the target of the GOP.

Proud to share this work with @kevinchalut.bsky.social and Byron Mui. Why do some injuries scar while others regenerate? Using digit tip models, we show the ECM is a key driver. HA-rich ECM promotes regeneration, and boosting it can shift healing away from fibrosis. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I was working dry grocery retail near full time while hoping I didn’t give my mother, who had pulmonary fibrosis, COVID. Do not whine to me about how easy women had it, bro.

She also read my journal & tried to defend herself, constantly left dirty plates on her floor, and while the effects of having Cystic Fibrosis + unpredictable periods on her underpants were not her fault, leaving those underpants on the carpet for ??? Weeks was certainly a choice.

Just randomly sitting here thinking of Franz Kafka dying of starvation while writing 'A Hunger Artist'...

Thinking of how he must have felt. Unknown writer dying of TB.

Unlike Chekhov dying of TB. Chekhov had acclaim in his lifetime. As did Chopin (documented as a TB death, but Cystic Fibrosis).

May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. Those with CF carry invisible burdens, from daily treatments to the constant weight of managing this disease.

My son Jimmy, 38, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, and I are trying to crowdfund while raising awareness for CF.

This video is from 7 years ago.

"Drug shortages in the UK have risen to their worst level for four years, official figures show, with Brexit a key reason"

Brexit has been driving this for a while, but there has been the usual excuse that it's a global problem. This report shows that it is worse here.

This comment from Professor Simon Denny, regarding "high quality evidence" should be spread far and wide. We anaesthatise, treat breast cancer, cystic fibrosis and multiple sclerosis using similarly quality evidence to puberty blockers.

Writer, activist, and all-around force. Lived boldly as a queer man while battling cystic fibrosis and used his voice to uplift others. Gone too soon, but his impact? Still here.

I remember being in a GP's waiting room and seeing a leaflet about "Cystic Fibrosis & Pregnancy". Not being pregnant with a CF baby, but being pregnant while having CF yourself. Again, it's gone from automatic death sentence to "you will grow up, and that will be normal and unexceptional".
