"Where?"--a new piece in The Offing today from second graphic memoir HOUSEHOLD GODS that will be out from Fieldmouse Press in the spring. This one I drew while my sister Carol was dying--there is a lot in the book about her. theoffingmag.com/art/comics/w...

We have a field mouse who visits the hedgehog feeding station for handy snax. Lifted the feeding hopper today and look what mousy had constructed underneath it 🥰.

🦔 hasn’t been around for a couple of weeks so I’m guessing mousy is all 🐭💭more for meeeeee.

Was walking around one of the parks south of Chicago a few weeks ago and saw this random field mouse on one of the pathways.

Inexplicably took me five months to pick this comic up off my shelf, but then devoured in two nights. This was so good, and had panels that will stay with me forever. Thank you, @breadcomix.bsky.social (and thank you @sequential.li for hand-selling me this at TCAF—you were right). 🤼🤼‍♀️

Full disclosure: Ana Two horror comic to be published by Fieldmouse Press Dark room next year. A running joke I have with Ana is that, regardless of the subject matter of her comics, they are always inevitably about power exchange and power relations in kinky relationships. Even his delightfully deranged comic for Diskette Press, yaoi girl, It starts with a ridiculous premise, but then inevitably gets to the same kind of exploration that Ana Two has done in her other comics.

High-Low: 31 Days of CCS, #12: Jeff Lok

High-Low: 31 Days of CCS, #12: Jeff Lok
Most of Jeff Lok's career was dedicated to comics with extremely dark and strange humor. Its rough line was a big part of the appeal of those strips. At Fieldmouse Press we published his memoirs. Wholewhich was a great step forward artistically and narratively. Lok lost none of his dark, acidic sense of humor in a memoir that was essentially a destruction of the American dream.

High-Low: I, Candy by Ruby Carter

High-Low: I, Candy by Ruby Carter
Ruby Carter's me candy reveals another facet of the artist. His bird comic (published by Fieldmouse Press) featured minimalist caricatures, deadpan humor, and low-level anxiety throughout. However, his other works (often in color) are colorful, strange and grotesque. me candy is explicitly intended to be about reification and consumption, and those elements are certainly evident. The title has a double play on words regarding both elements.

One thing I really did not expect about being a book publisher is the strange spam email I get because of specific books. Case in point? SOUVENIR by @saraluna.bsky.social — a gorgeous book about finding a way forward when all you want is to live in the past.

I recently read A Tale of Two Travelers by Madita Schwenke from @fieldmouse.press. It’s an excellent retelling of a Grimm Brothers tale drawn in a gorgeously economical way. I have been super-impressed by many books from Fieldmouse Press, and I suggest folks go check out more of them.
