We fished Carol’s Pond, or should I say that Wil clipped his rods to the bivvy and went off with his Nikon camera while I tried to keep an expander on the hook. bit.ly/46QNFpU is where you can read about this and other exploits in our fishing journey.
Soft Expanders and Nikon Shots
Weird to call it a joint fishing day on Carol’s Pond at Barry, because although Wil took his rods, most of his day was taken up with his method feeder rods strapped to the bivvy clips, and with him…

Great memories of this place as a child. My dad would take us on what seemed like timber company property were they stored logs on the bluffs above the ocean . There was a path that lead to the jetty or something like that where we fished. It was on the North side of the Noyo river

My wife dropped her phone in the deep end of a pool. We fished it out and it was fine. Still is.

Every single character involved in the president's bizarre proclivities can be described like this. An obscure cryptid. "He fished for tuna, loves to cover himself in tree sap but hasn't been seen since vanishing into a bog 65 years ago. The hunt for a gnome behind Trump's obsession with stirrups"

The sea lions up in northern BC where my mom's family fished are a different species.
(My mom said back in the 1950s fishermen used to exterminate sea lions, so Kerry's uncle may have saved Sandy's life, by sending him somewhere safe.)

I was working on the Watana Dam project on the Susitna River that summer. He flew through the project area and fished at a few of the freshwater creeks: Indian and Portage, that flow into the Big Sue. I fished those creeks later in life and always had good luck catching Rainbows and grayling.

26 yrs ago, when my book won the Guyana Prize (national book award of Guyana), I was going through a "keep nothing, remember everything" phase, meaning I threw the actual prize certificate in the garbage. My (now late) mother fished it out and framed it, and I'm so happy she did. I just retrieved it

“Pulse” -> “Heart”. I might have posted this one, but I definitely wrote it after Ilona Maher made a joke about keeping her Olympic condoms around as a message to potential lovers. 😂 #WIPSnips

20% of everything fished today now goes to non-human consumption, much of which becoming fishmeal to feed farmed fish. That salmon you ate? It took more than 700 wild caught anchovies to feed it. And catching those anchovies--plus other fishmeal inputs (& bycatch)-- employs more than 10,000 vessels.

I got a huge blister on my thumb from cleaning my floors and they took over 30 minutes to dry. I also fished out what can only be described as a worrying amount of loose hair. Logically, I'm never doing chores again

As a young teenager, the review I read of the race (Road & Track? Rob Walker?) quoted Hawkins as saying “I’m a raw prawn!” when he was fished out. As an adult, knowing a bit more about Aussies, I’m thinking those might not have been the exact words he used.

They ranged from next to LA up through the central coast. Framed, gathered acorns, lots of oak forests. Lived in domed huts. They also fished the ocean & spent time on the Channel islands. There’s a canyon near Carpenteria that oozes tar naturally. They sealed their boats with it.

Thoreau, Oct. 12, 1855. Carried home a couple of rails which I fished out of the bottom of the river and left on the bank to dry about three weeks ago. [American chestnut rail fence by Roger Foley]

Cod are a Keystone Species, Holding Ocean Ecosystems Together. We Are Fishing Them Out of Existence.
No Northern Shelf cod should be removed from the ocean in the English Channel, North Sea up to Norway and the west of Scotland. Why? Because there's almost no cod to remove. The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, ICES, has determined, for a second time this year, that the populations of this widely consumed fish are so small that they should not be fished at all.

Not only is this untrue (the real figure is more like 30%) but it’s grotesquely misleading: the way Homan’s department interprets ‘criminality’ is any breach of the law no matter how petty and how long ago. It considers a man who once fished without a license in the 1970s as a criminal.
Homan: "Over 60% of everybody we arrest is a criminal. But if you're in the country illegally, you're certainly not off the table. If we find you, we're gonna arrest and deport you."
