fishmongers: dude what

Supermarkets put most small butchers, greengrocers, bakers, fishmongers and doorstep milk deliverers out of business. Now almost all meat, veg, bread, fish and milk comes in plastic. Whereas before it came in paper and glass.
Amazon’s plastic packaging waste alone could encircle the globe 500 times: buff.ly/AREVW3M. We need to do better.

Use less, buy less, waste less.

Most are just self-serve refrigerators so you get what’s there. There are some fishmongers around and to be honest Billingsgate market is a mile away.

Mike is meeting Aretha Franklin and Liam Neeson in Samoa to coordinate a farrow to immanentise Atlanta with digitally fishmongers!

Together with historian Dr Anouska Lester, I’m trawling through documents like the ones biscuified here to show how integral tradespeople were to the early modern theatre industry.

The project is titled ‘Shakespeare’s Makers’. Stay tuned for our findings!

i think about this a lot when i pass the fishmongers arms. then in the 60s it became a rock venue and some of the biggest names played there (pink floyd, led zep, fleetwood mac, cream...), yet not even a plaque on it.

incidentally i took this photo, for wikipedia 😉

Think you've got moves? Check out this delightful film of a night out in Wood Green Jazz Club. It was truly the place to be in the 50s whether you were a 'Teddy Boy' or a 'toff'.

Thanks to the BFI for this gem from directors Karel Reisz and Tony Richardson: replay.bfi.org.uk/video/a3bddf...

Fishmongers is the last one I remember. I was eating something on a bun, so it must have been a late Friday lunch instead of dinner.

Ooh. I may need to eat a fried thing soon.

Also, RIP Fishmongers. 😥

Utter madness. America isn’t ready for a female President (no idea why). If Trump was the answer* last time, you have to ask a different question.

*I doubt he was. That election was fishier than a fishmongers fingers

I have a proper butcher and fishmongers directly across the street from each other. The butcher shop has been there since 1902.

I still love that The Deep - the very decent aquarium there - had a big metal "Sponsored by the Hull Fishmongers' Guild" on its wall when I visited.

Surely that's a massive conflict of interests?😂🤣

Dockers' Derby is alliterative, so works better that Fishmongers' or Longshoremen's Derby.
Was there (anti-, para-)social media the last time Millwall and Hammers were in the same division? Is there a better name?

Unfair to fishmongers' slabs

Since we only ever really hear about fishmongers and fearmongers, I'm wondering what else is currently being left unmongered.

I’m not a big fan of the AI posters in front of restaurants, butchers and fishmongers, but I don’t see how we come back from this. I feel bad for graphic designers though…

Dubious research method. Might just as well have asked how many vape shops and Turkish barbers are there in your high street. Or butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers…

Or ask a supplementary: and which of these have you used in the last three months?

so I ran into some fishmongers I knew and they took me under their wing. I love queer community
