McLaren flexiwing is an example of what I mean, if the rules say you can't have bodywork that flexes a certain amount you can't do it. The test is there to check compliance, but if it's visibly doing something else on track no that's not what the rules say (in my ideal scenario not currently)

McLaren - tighter flexiwing rules drag them down to the pack
RB - more focused on ‘26 gold station
Ferrari - LH excitement pushes a little forward
Mercedes - learn from McLaren customer team; works adv propels them among the others

I don't disagree, the 2010 Red Bull flexiwing with skids was blatant and Ecclestone maneuvering to give Red Bull wins set in train a precedent of how rules a read, where the measurement wrongly (IMO) takes priority over the principle.
Use of material properties tends to be an acceptable loophole.

Qualifying is just ruining their weekends most of the time, cause they can’t even fight for podiums when the race pace is good like today or China. If that flexiwing ref in Barcelona doesn’t have a big impact, idk about a win this year.

I dunno, I’m feeling good about this new floor thing. Like not the performance we’ve seen, but the fact that they already had moves to make the instant they were hit with the plank thing. I just also worry McLaren will have all-new aero started the moment the flexiwing move was blocked.

I’d love to know more about this flexiwing stuff. Is it just Hooke’s law or have they engineered materials that don’t flex until reaching a certain load. e.g. It seems rigid until it hits 170mph of aero load and then, the flex becomes more pronounced; non-linear would be really cool engineering.
