#flyfishers
Yup sad story. As a child of flyfishers this used to be our staple: oh no not salmon again..not realising how privileged we were

Mid to late 1800s, which means they are likely in Mary Orvis Marbury’s book. UK flyfishers heavily influenced flies all around the world.

I wonder at the Alt description listing berrying as the primary activity. Most flyfishers would put fishing first. & berry picking as something to do on the way to the water or from the water.

Also - there are other flyfishers here on Bsky. You may be able to connect with someone who knows your area and what the fish are interested in:

Ah, the Large Dark Olive. I think I've read something about B Atlanticus. Is that right? But B Rhodani is good enough for us flyfishers?

Rocinela is an isopod that likes to take a bite out of fish 🐟 - ANY fish that it comes across.
But occasionally, it'll also take bite at any flyfishers who happens to be wading at a beach where Rocinela is on the hunt

Brisk 30 min walk @ Lake Pueblo State Park today. I saw a few Red-tailed hawks on my drive into the park and too many Osprey to count and a couple of nice trout... up-stream from the flyfishers. The American plum and Eastern Redbud are in bloom. Enjoy your time nature!

All you darn flyfishers are alike. Trying not to hurt the fish. No barbed hooks. Tiny hooks. Big fish, probably feathers you tied on the hook yourself.
Thanks. Have fun.

Yep. Enjoyed that story, as well. Really solid collection. Alas, no flyfishing, but lots of Montana. Lemme’ know what you think! And on that note, a book club among Bluesky #flyfishers might be a solid community endeavor.

"A watercolour painting by A. J. Rennie depicting the fish hung in the dining room of the Flyfishers Club in London, despite the fact that Ballantine, as a woman, would not be admitted to the gentlemen's club."

Other notable flyfishers include little Donny jr., Neil Gorsuch.

Not all flyfishers are good peoples.

This Freshwater Friday we celebrate our Riverfly volunteers going out and braving whatever the British weather has in store for them. A wet day at Cressbrook & Litton Flyfishers Club on the Derbyshire Wye - lots of fun!
