Ja, jag tog dna på mig o min mor på FTDNA. På min bror, mor o mig även på Ancestry. Förde över data från FTDNA till MyHeritage. Och känns som FTDNA ger bättre resultat för norra Europa o Ancestry för södra o USA om man söker på folk som emigrerade.

I started with Ancestry and then uploaded to MyHeritage. I decided to also try FTDNA today to see if there are additional matches.

Hello #GenHour I DNA tested autosomal way back in 2013 but put off any other type of testing until now. Just got an email (opened 2 minutes ago) from FTDNA to say my mtDNA results are in. So ... Don't think I will get much else done today! 🧬 #Genealogy #GeneticGenealogy

I recently posted that Verogen (the corporate owner of GEDmatch) has been sued—not once but twice—for violations of genetic privacy. Last week, Gene by Gene (the corporate owner of FamilyTreeDNA) was also sued in the state of Illinois. The case, Joshua Saathoff v Gene by Gene, was filed on 25 November 2024. All three class-action lawsuits allege that Gene by Gene violated the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act (GIPA) by using tracking software that synced with Facebook.

I suspect FTDNA is similar to 23andMe in its grouping together of Scottish and Irish but isn't as upfront about it!

My results show me as I-Z138, the depth of calling as an old autosomal Kit I have w. ftDNA. They are also promoting ftDNA's Big-Y testing. 🎉

Years ago I had my mtDNA studied by FTDNA. The results came back Indigenous 16 percent. Yes, it's a small part of the genome so I had that tested and it came back 31 percent Indigenous! It confirmed the stories my family shared with me about our ancestry.
