making fossil fuel extraction more efficient during a planetary wide climate catastrophe is the delusional pursuit of godlike machine intelligence by another name
‘Cohere’s founders offer an answer that may disappoint Silicon Valley: The pursuit of godlike superintelligence is probably futile, so better to make money now by keeping AI costs low with models just smart enough for whatever its business clients need.’ www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
AI’s Newest Billionaires Want No Part of Superintelligence Race
The race to build ever more powerful artificial intelligence has created a new class of billionaires. Some of them are starting to question the race itself.

Fun fact, no matter how this dragon eats you, if you're being turned into dragon fat, some of you is getting turned into ballfat too...

A beast's body is a breeder at its core, and using excess fat as fuel to make dragon batter is an efficient use of resources :9

Nothing is truly wasted~

What a sick idea to create fuel from animal fat. With electric motors being sooo much more efficient than any internal combustion engine could ever be! It's just mind-boggling to think about tackling the #fuelcrisis this way. #Auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2026-11...
Tallow could help solve Australia's fuel shortages
Australia's booming tallow industry could help reduce the nation's reliance on imported fuel, with plans to turn animal by-products into renewable fuels on home soil.

Reminding me of the 1970s when the OPEC crisis surged gas prices and US automakers lost out to Japanese auto makers who were making more fuel efficient, smaller cars.

US automakers make some bizarre decisions. Abandoning EVs just as the world is electrifying everything is typical.

The trouble with small nuclear reactors. SMRs are a colossal waste of time — a distraction from cheaper, more efficient technologies. The huge costs involved are unrealistic. And many designs rely on fuel from hostile or rival states.

Proponents believe the technology is central to the AI data centre boom. Others think it is a waste of time and money

I like those smaller, fuel efficient cars too. My fave was the Honda Fit and then they quit making them 😩

Yes, please. Hubby has the fuel efficient car for TAFE!

You take that back about Ford Escorts. They did nothing but be reliable, fuel efficient, easy to maintain little guys (as long as you had a manual transmission). How dare you?

I had a new system installed last year. Mine dated from 1998 and did me very well. But I was amazed how quiet and more efficient the new one is. Uses a lot less fuel as well.

right, cars look mostly the same now because they are optimized for aerodynamics and accident safety. i love the look of an old fashioned boat of car, but it’s far less fuel efficient and more dangerous.

The Democrats from Carter to Biden gave us a path forward. Carbon-free and fuel-free energy generation. Transmission, distribution and storage has become safer and more efficient. We could replace a car culture with a safer better car culture. With each car as a storage device.

Yep & luckily a car that is fuel efficient, but thank you x

The last time there was a prolonged fuel crisis, car companies developed & sold more economical & efficient vehicles. Over the years, people have decided they like/need bigger vehicles & can live with less efficiency. Now we are stuck with car companies only selling trucks, SUVs & pricey EVs.

In Defense of the Yugo

The pt cruiser was a loophole exploited by Chrysler to sell higher volume less fuel efficient vehicles. We are letting the fox into the hen house!! Chrysler gas guzzlers populate almost the entire list of deadliest vehicles on the road.

For this reason, I'm CANCELING the pt cruiser.

Or you go to extraordinary lengths to reduce the mileage you drive and therefore your demand for gas and if you are able you seek out more fuel efficient vehicles

I'm a millennial so I didn't experience this. But, from what I understand. The Delorean was a sports car that was outperformed by its competitors. It also apparently came out when the market was shifting to more fuel efficient cars due to an increase in gas prices. That and the owners mismanagement?

By designing the programs to be "fuel agnostic," the utility developer alliance ensured homes just got slightly more efficient gas furnaces to hit a badge, explicitly limiting true disruption like full electrification or rooftop solar.
November 4, 2026 at 4:51 AM
And still no global vision to start replacing fossil fuel plastics, and fibers, making houses out of products that don't burn that are thermally efficient using plants that eat CO2 for breakfast lunch and dinner, and provide nice clean oxygen to boot.

We need an energy system that works for people, not one that rewards polluters and leaves the public footing the bill. Ministers must act now to accelerate the transition to renewables, make our homes more energy efficient and end our reliance on volatile fossil fuel markets.
