What can I say, I was a Force Five kid, though Starblazers and Battle of the Planets came first. To appease purists I didn't include Macross cuz for me that was Robotech. Surprised they never did more Area 88 adaptations than what we got. Repost since original link is sorta wonky to get to img.

They also did some recap films of old Toei shows around 2011. While they’re not the Force Five dubs, all 3 were part of force five, and it makes me wonder if that’s what Shout had been trying to get

To my surprise, it was a vintage Gaiking from the Shogun Warriors line. The price? $5.99. Needless to say, I grabbed it and brought it home. The cashier thought it was a Gundam, but I didn’t correct them. Gaiking has been a proud piece in my collection ever since.

It's got a lot of the same staff as Toei's 2005 Gaiking show and a similar spirit, but it's extremely charming and heartfelt. Skip Xros Hunters tho it's a super cynical executive mandated third season made in response to fan complaints that it wasn't "enough like Digimon" lol

In the same exact timeslot as Voltron what is it? FORCE FIVE. Somehow Grendizer, Getter Robo G, Starzinger, Danguard Ace, or Gaiking was airing the same time as Voltron in Nineteen Fucking Eighty Four. I never saw Force Five until the Spaced Out Japanimation VHS tapes circa 1999 when I was a teen.

It's from one of the first imported/ poorly translated Japanese cartoons I ever saw as a kid. It's part of Gaiking.

62. Daiku Maryu Gaiking (1976) (William Winckler dub version)
It is...okay show... it have flaws, but alien conspiracy theory theme is very interesing, but movie version, despite voice acting, it is okay, but last movie have bad cutting and mix sound problems.
6/10
