I totally agree with Rez Graham.

Rather than spending time learning how a third-party engine works, I chose to hone my skills and work on my game engine.

It's super fun...

... and that's basically what the coders of the Golden Age of videogaming did! 😜

So...

... texture double-buffering and PBO ring implemented.

The upload and draw phases of the rendering system are as detached as possible (for now).

Now, on to reworking the transparency management to improve performance even more.

if rpg maker and gdevelop aren't your thing, probably scratch gamengine / make code arkade might fit?
some start with mobile apps first, like buildbox or game builder garage for switch

Today I've been expanding the engine's C# interop generator to handle enums, which has allowed me to clean-up around 1000 lines of old LibaryImportAttribute interop.

Mostly done with support for #cplusplus enum class and typedef enums.

Still more work to do on it!

I finally managed to find some time to sketch and test an image-loading optimization I have been having in mind for months.

I will write a blog entry about it in the next days.

Spoiler: deciding if an optimization is worth the effort is not easy. 😜

our first tutorial beginner series is slowly coming to an end. ✨ (Only two parts left)

It's not much but I'm proud we finally managed to get some tutorials on Youtube! 📹

In the meantime we're working on a game & the next update patch, coming next week. So much to do!

I've been trying Remotery today. It's really a nice piece of software, with some VERY clever tricks here and there.

Anyhow, I won't be using it for #TofuEngine. I don't want to pollute the codebase with profiling calls here and there.

For now. :P :)

Even if it's pretty tiring to study so much, I'm enjoying my time learning Godot and gdscript. Similar to Phyton, still has some C# similarities, and the node structure of the engine is superb.
