Today’s walk(s): a mile from hospital car park to phlebotomy and back, then a couple of miles on Dartmoor. Took the t-shirt and put it on halfway up a tor for the socials. #OvarianCancerAction #100milesinOctober

Assuming the gate is this size ( as indicated by Kerri Davies) how did Brad damage the gate but not the gateposts? #TheArchers

The connection with the Baskervilles is preserved in statues of hellhounds with spears through their mouths which sit on the stone gateposts at the entrance to the park and atop the front of Crowsley Park House.
Here is a walk you can take, if you wish to follow their trail
Hound of the Baskervilles walk: full route
This undulating stile free walk explores the Chilterns countryside around the south Oxfordshire village of Binfield Heath.

This November will mark 2 years since I first glanced up the stairs and noticed these door handles, and decided to go back for pics - to match those I have of their brothers on the gateposts

Still a plan 🙄

May not bother after seeing shiny polished version!

Have never passed them in shiny mode 🤯

Was not expecting to read about Bay Bulls this morning. Was hoping the story mentioned the cannons used at the church gate.

So the Britons did use quartz rocks/boulders to show routes across moorlands (and possibly make cool glowing effects in pools) because they do kind of glow. We still use them a lot on gateposts at home, and it does work, but not on a pavement...

Yes, here in Dorchester too. Also seen in metal farm gateposts that have a slot for a latch to locate in and in the hollow top of a public footpath signpost at Chesil beach. Just like hedgehogs; you build them a nice comfy nest box and they choose to nest under an abandoned wheelbarrow!

Bronze Age Guesswork on Wayworth Moor
The Moors are littered with standing stones, and behind each is its own little mystery. Some mark old routes. Some are gateposts that have outlived their gates. A few might be medieval crosses, worn down by weather and time until nobody can be certain. Others seem to have drawn an arbitrary line in the earth long ago: this land is mine, keep out.
