For today I wanted to do a comparison between modern and retro. The items in today's photo are the same, a Gameboy and a Switch 2. But the photo methods are different. On the left, a real GBCamera running on a GBColor, the right a GBC rom running through pizzaboy.

As an avid Pokemon TCG collector, the only choice I had was a recent favorite of mine. And this is where I lament that while the Japanese GBCamera Rom has a Psyduck stamp, the international one does not.

As a kid that willingly hauled around the GBCamera and corresponding printer around everywhere to take photos, I always smile when I see anyone rediscovering it.

I always enjoyed using it, but coming back to the Game Boy Camera in 2026 felt like a breath of fresh air. The camera's offline simplicity is something to be treasured, a chance to forge a more personal and relaxed relationship with photography:
