New Gears!

I just finished carving up the gears for the mechanical clock I’ve been working on. They’re all balanced and ready to put back into the clock.

gearmaking got me ducked up 🦆

I don’t know when I will be well enough to regularly do commissions again, so I’ve pivoted to digitizing & sharing my patterns & my hard-won info on how to work w/ neoprene (& leather & more!) so that other makers can feel more confident taking up the petplay gearmaking torch, so to speak.

My dad’s dad was at Waterloo Assembly for 35 years as a gearing machinists. He was a process psycho just like every other man in my family so he spent the last decade of his career as the transmission section‘s machine shop trainer for transmission gearmaking.

Yeah, the amount my wife has spent on her music for little to no return, and the year and change we sunk into making pro wrestling gear with all the equipment that went along with it is probably a number I wouldn’t want to know. Especially given how quick we burnt out on the gearmaking.
