Realistically, I could make new David Bowie art forever and be happy.
Also realistically, I will likely do just that.

Changed my mind. It looked weird with only one stripe covering a seam. Added another
Now in worse lighting 😅

Second collage in thrifted book. Thoughts below
Main section has layers of paint and ink. Rest is a gel print that I cut up to cover the background

So the Gelli prints I’ve been working on the lately have been turning out better than any of the ones I’ve done so far. I want to get to posting them, but I still have a bunch I haven’t posted, so here’s a some finished stuff just to blow it out of my files.

I am still in search of a good Freddy Krueger print! This one I am happy with the background, but the black transfer on Freddy could have turned out a bit better.

This is a second attempt at Captain Spaulding, the first one I attempted to overlay the words over the print and man that did not work.

Up today is Layne Staley. Nirvana was always my favorite grunge band when grunge was still a thing, but nowadays I would absolutely say it’s Alice In Chains.

I knew when I started doing prints I was going to do Weird Al, but I wanted to wait a bit until I had a bit more of a handle on it so I could get it right. Looking at how it turned out I maybe should have waited a little longer!

When I was a teacher I was overwhelmed with papers in my house. That was nothing compared to the tidal wave of gel printed papers I turn out these days, with little squeaks of delight and surprise at every pull. Second childhood at 8O!

Slowly working through all the big grunge boys. Already did Kurt, so here’s Chris Cornell. I always liked Soundgarden, but as time has passed I’ve gotten a much better appreciation of them.

I did this print of Poppy that I’m mostly happy with, but the black transfer wasn’t as great as I hoped it could be so some of the details are a little lost. Like the birds for example. But I’m a big fan of Poppy, so I will try her again, for sure.

One of the first prints I made that I was happy with was of Will and Hannibal. So I wanted to do a new one and see if I could make it better. It took two tries, but i think it worked out pretty well. I won’t post the video of the shad one. #hannibal #willgraham #gelliprint #gelliplate #printmaking

Jenn and I were on vacation, but we’re home now and here’s some new stuff. I’m a big big fan of Sun so I wanted to make a print of her. I wasn’t sure how the big dress would translate but I think it worked out alright!

I tried to pick some of my favorite Scorpion looks for this one, but I had to stick with more modern ones because I wasn’t sure if some of the older ones would translate since they were just Big polygons. I guess I could have tried eh?
