Yes, care has to be taken. AI can get a lot of grunt work done really fast, saving enormous development time. But it must still (so far) be supervised to prevent introducing new bugs into what was working code.
Me: The UH and DH variables passed to humidityControl are undefined at that point. AI: You're absolutely right, and that's a bug I introduced. In the original getTH, avgTempHum ran synchronously at the top, so UH and DH were set in the parent shell. When I moved it to run in the background (avgTempHum &) to overlap with the Phase 1 ping jobs, those variables get set inside a subshell and are never visible to the parent — so by the time humidityControl is called, $UH and $DH are both empty. The fix is to run avgTempHum synchronously before launching the background jobs, restoring the original behavior: Good catch. My earlier claim that running avgTempHum concurrently was an "improvement" was wrong — it was a silent breakage. It's back to synchronous now, matching the original getTH behavior and ensuring $UH and $DH are properly set before humidityControl needs them.
