In this case Microsoft was quite literally allowing GitHub Copilot users to pay $39 a month and then use anywhere from $50 to $10,000 a month in tokens that Microsoft would then pay Anthropic or OpenAI for. This made GitHub Copilot Anthropic’s second largest API customer

News for GitHub users / AI haters: The Copilot "offer" UI that was added to Github last month (the boxes in the top toolbar and on the front page) can now be disabled. If you go to Settings->Copilot in Github there is now a new "Visibility" setting:

the one i'm reviewing now has a suggestion to add a missing method because apparently copilot can't detect that it's defined on the class's parent
