theres smth grossly anthropocentric about the idea that proximity to human-like speech & reasoning (which they are designed to emulate) is proof of sentience. are u implying that ppl who dont think or verbalize in a normalized way (like children or ppl with disabilities) or animals, are less alive??

I feel like the AI Will Be Conscious thing is similar to the idea of the singularity or like Elon Musk insisting that specific memories can be saved or deleted, like it's the same very literal understandings of the mind that yet all rely on magic we have no working model of or evidence for.
