I remember being disappointed by the end of His Dark Materials. I came to the books expecting an atheist story (based on all the media hoo-ha) but it just seemed to be alternative goddish theory. Enjoyed the story telling but not being religious I couldn’t see what all the excitement was about.

FWIW, in the leadup to West Coast Avengers 35, Doom's memories were implanted in the body of his adopted son (Kristoff Vernard), who started to believe he WAS Doom. Until they Beyonder (the goddish guy from Secret War) resurrected the real Doom. Also FWIW, the real Doom doesn't remove his mask.
