Nixon asked Goldwater how many votes he had in the Senate. Goldwater told him, "Not many and not mine."

Goldwater told Nixon to resign. That's not a coup.

Morning all.

Photographer Mick Goldwater from his book, London Underground 1970-1980.

Yes. A delegation of Republicans in Congress, led by Barry Goldwater, told Nixon he would be convicted if impeached.

Barry F-ing Goldwater.

50 years from Goldwater, Scott, & Rhodes to this guy & this position, & yet somehow we've spent the last decade talking about "polarization" as the problem & how it is <checks notes> the Democrats who have moved further from the political center than the now-far right authoritarian party.

they nominated goldwater
That could be. But - for example - consider the John Birch Society. Decades ago it was considered totally crazy and a joke even by most right-wingers. It was part of the radical right. Now we live in a "Jewish space lasers" world. The society is "too mainstream" for the fever swamp. See intro...

We got here because of Fox News and Bush II and Nixon and Reagan and Goldwater and Limbaugh.

I love Prescott! This is where Barry Goldwater launched his '64 presidential campaign. Check out these pics!
Over 1600 patriotic Americans made it to the #PrescottAZ Courthouse Square, it was probably closer to 2000.

2000 people showing up in red Yavapai County might seem hard to believe, but we have been organizing here awhile now 😉

Barry Goldwater wasn’t wrong in 1964. He was almost prophetic in his observations.

JD Vance claims "the deep state took down Richard Nixon."
But a key figure pressing Nixon to resign was limited-government advocate Barry Goldwater.
Does Vance think Goldwater was a deep-state commissar?
June 26, 2026 at 10:46 PM
Yep, Goldwater was a proto-Libertarian nut but he knew what was happening to the Republican Party.

I don't think this is gonna be a Goldwater/Nixon moment.

Sens. Mike Lee and Rick Scott have teed up what could be a tense, confrontational lunch tomorrow with President Trump and Senate Republicans.
Republicans brace for Trump SAVE Act showdown
Trump is fixated on passing the SAVE Act to help Republicans in the midterms.

Barry Goldwater, Hugh Scott, John Rhodes.

No reason

modern Dems struggling to live up to the standards of [checks notes] Barry Goldwater
I’m never surprised with the Democratic Party for behaving like feckless idiots, but there’s an obvious affirmative case to be made for trans rights alongside reproductive rights and LGBTQ rights and it’s about FREEDOM which is something you would think US politicians wouldn’t be afraid to embrace.

goldwater moment incoming
The Democratic establishment's aggressive shunning of Mamdani is the latest illustration of party leaders' bad judgement. Jeffries in particular is showing himself not as coalition leader but a champion of the center-left wing and can't be trusted going forward. newrepublic.com/article/1992...
The Democratic Establishment’s Shunning of Mamdani Is Disqualifying
What exactly are Schumer, Jeffries, et al. afraid of? If they won’t get behind Mamdani, progressives should make them pay a future price.

Again, please start looking at American history to explain America because Goldwater, McCarthyism and blackballing are right there...
I can’t get over how Cultural Revolution the DOGE story is, these young people doing crimes they didn’t understand on behalf of a political leader
This is Nathan Cavanaugh, another DOGE staffer explaining how he flagged grants at NEH for "DEI" which would be reviewed for termination. 404 Media has reviewed hours of this footage and we'll have more soon.

Wait: Barry Goldwater staged a coup against Nixon?!? Things I never knew
October 3, 2026 at 11:35 PM
Goldwater the Democratic party
A lot of Dem incumbents are going to be confused and upset to find their strongest challenger next primary is "anyone but you."

I hope this shakes out to be more progressive, but it doesn't have to. Dem voters will just want anyone who doesn't seem as useless as the potatoes currently in the seats.
the disconnect between elected Dems (business as usual) and the base (boiling mad) is about as big as I've ever seen it

I don't know how this eventually gets resolved but it's not a sustainable equilibrium

Barry Goldwater warned of it! I’m not even kidding.

Not only did Goldwater and Reagan say it… “Peace Through Strength” is the motto of the Eighth Air Force, established in 1944.
