#grandmother
when my great aunt was pregnant she told my grandmother she had picked two names: if it's a girl, she'll be named Ariadne, and if it's a boy, Onan.

my grandmother did a double take and said, "Onan?"

"Yeah, it's a nice Biblical name, I like the sound of it"

My grandmother was Chiloquin Klamath, and unfortunately tho I knew her I was not as profoundly connected to her heritage as I wish I'd been, but because of what I did learn and who I did meet and do did teach me, I've been watching shit like this happen by whole life and seen how easily it could not

My Western Bantu Peoples is gone which is very odd because I know my great great grandmother was from Africa. Not that my mother would ever acknowledge it but that was her problem, not mine.

my grandfather's family is from northern italy, my grandmother's from the south, and only spoke colloquial italian so they could talk shit about the other side

my irish catholic grandmother had to wait for her mother to die so she could marry an irish protestant guy without causing a localized ww3
recently got a glimpse of intra-italian racism when one of my friends got called a “tomato italian” by a self-described “lemon italian”

FACT‼️
When I was a kid, my grandmother told my sister, who always was saying, "I hate you," to stop saying it. She said, "You don't even know what hate is yet." I didn't understand what she meant until Trump. She was right. We didn't know what hate really was... I do now. Smdh.

My wife is 50% Indian. Her grandmother was Iroquois she seems to remember. My wife was young when grandma used to watch her.

I believe this is a prerogative of age.

My grandmother never understood or cared about the internet.

I’m very happy to let the cutting edge pass me by if it requires feigning interest in this.

Happy indigenous peoples day!!

Its a T'alia day! She grew up in the mountains as a kid with her tribe but at a young age was separated. Her story regarding family is heavily inspired by my grandmother.

From the state of Maine, Happy indigenous peoples' day

Dreaming Of A Jolly Christmas (1992): When an irascible grandmother tries to steal all the presents from Dollywood, he learns that the true meaning of Christmas is the true meaning of Christmas.

My son's 2nd favorite series after the Percy Jackson books was "The Sisters Grimm". Granted, the author is a man, but the protagonists are two girls who are being raised by their grandmother. He also read the Hunger Games and Inkheart series, and they're both written by women. 🤷‍♀️

In high school I knew girls who got bullied by other girls because of what their deceased great-great-grandmother did 100+ years earlier (sex worker), cos they were wearing the wrong eyeshadow, cos they misread a word, cos they sneezed and so on. Periods are not even close to being off limits.

No, it's Hibiscus syriacus, my grandmother called it rose of sharon.

Family rumor has it that Great Grandmother was a victim of Indian School. Yes I care! It left generational trauma. No one trusts anyone in my family.

My grandmother was a classically trained bass player and was in the pit orchestra for his run playing Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof at the North Shore Music Theater. All kinds of ties from Spock to the area.

I was lucky enough to be raised by a grandmother in the sandhills of SC, who taught me to never lie and never judge anyone by the color of their skin. She also never used a curse word. I failed on that lesson.

My grandmother told me to bring her back some gold when she saw the gold panning photos.

… I cheated 😂

This is a must-read explanation of why Trump didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize. It's also pretty amusing in places. I personally enjoyed the writer's use of the exclamation "uff da," a phrase my grandmother used to use when she was a little rattled or surprised 😁
Statement from Peter Girnus, one of the 5 Nobel Prize commissioners.

Tried explaining a.i. to my 100-year old grandmother and she just looked at me for a few seconds and said "if the robots are finally alive, I'm glad I won't be around for it."

i have the fact that apparently my grandfather was close enough to the black community in NYC that they invited him to their bars and clubs to dance and trusted him to bring my very white grandmother too
