Seen last September, this species is endemic to the south west of Western Australia. The contrast of the white labellum and the yellow sepals/petals with their dark red tips is quite striking

While it’s commonly called the Gracefull Grasstree, #Xanthorrhoea gracilis, is less “tree-like” than the others, forgoing the many trunk and just being a tuft of basal leaves, along with these tall inflorescences that get to 2m!

You really need patience! 😅 It took ~10 ½ months to germinate. I got three Grasstree plants. 2 survived and are now 8 years old.

Look at this. There is some (unknown to me) WA insect that makes a cocoon identical (at 3/4 scale) to a tampon. I had to even look closely to check that they weren’t tampons!!
