#haggadah
The plague debate stuff is very funny to me because the haggadah my family uses on Passover has a very long aside about it included, but the way it was translated from Hebrew erased whatever nuance they were actually arguing over and it's like reading the most boring person's acid trip ideas.

Sorry most Jews in New York are not rabbis protesting for a ceasefire and reading the Social Justice Haggadah you are just in a bubble. It’s a nice bubble! Lovely people in it. Not a lot of them tho.

or, perhaps more aptly, a commentary on the haggadah

Am I literally just writing history as if I learned it from a haggadah?

that's awesome! haggadot.com rings a bell, i think - i am trying to remember the resource my college reform chavurah used to customize our weekly shabbat prayers. truly, sefaria has been transformative. thank you so much for helping bring it into being!

True, but you have some big shoes to fill with that name. Ai isn’t in the Haggadah.

Her little folksy touch about the Maxwell House Haggadah doesn't prove what she thinks it does. Saying "next year in Jerusalem" is meaningless.

I want Maxwell House to have a few more things and more/better transliteration but I can put my own social justice gloss on the pieces of it and don’t need that in the Haggadah (I recognize this is not necessarily a popular opinion)

One of these years I’m going to make a haggadah zine that’s minimalist but with traditional text and fully transliterated but I don’t want to deal with the graphic design and RTL/LTR text combos of it all. Probably this already exists but until then I’m using Maxwell House with personal notes added

A 14th-century manuscript LoRA for FLUX.1, Apache-2.0 licensed, opens a narrow but real lane for heritage and commercial stylisation.

Yet no training data, benchmarks, or verified Ascend NPU support — just an implied compatibility.

Until usage examples ship, hard to see this beating generic...

My grandfather had a one true Haggadah to the point that I can never hold a Seder because every one I see is always… wrong… somewhere.

St. House of Maxwell wrote the canonical Haggadah.

we used some random typewritten haggadah made some rabbi from the five towns or massapequa or something in the 1950s, like G-d intended long islanders to do

What haggadah did your family use? Are you sure it wasn’t that one? It was free, so people got lots, and then it was what they had around.
August 27, 2026 at 10:27 PM
i'm sorry what? everybody's reading a coffee branded haggadah? they did not tell me about this in hebrew school
August 27, 2026 at 10:26 PM
I stan the Maxwell House Haggadah.
August 27, 2026 at 10:25 PM
I often say that the haggadah is one of the hardest texts in Judaism, and every year, every Jewish family is supposed to sit down & make sense of it at home. In the modern US, for most Jews & friends, this has meant reading through it, largely in translation, & eating according to instructions.

I mean, it’s fine. But you’re proving my point that it is largely a haggadah of convenience. This doesn’t make it bad, but it also doesn’t make it great.
