#hagiographical
Adam’s right. It’s more important than ever that our institutions defend First Amendment rights, and that means not firing teachers illegally whether their offense was “Go ICE” or saying something less than hagiographical about Charlie Kirk. Fewer people want to hear that in ugly times.

Am I going to be the only one to suggest that firing a public school teacher for speaking out on a matter of public concern raises profound First Amendment issues, and we should pause before cheering on such actions when that power can be weaponized against progressive teachers in red places? 1/3
This “beloved” Chicago teacher, James Heidorn, believes he was pushed out of his job due to a two-word post on his Facebook account.

Oddly enough, the heavily Hispanic district didn’t appreciate him posting “GO ICE”.

The packed-stadium memorial and every-outlet top-story coverage with absolutely bizarre hagiographical detail is... well, it's going to be a pretty weird historical artifact

(The main stylistic tell for me is vomit-inducing hagiographical puffery.)

If you read enough hagiographical work about very specific men gamers in the 1970s and couple it with a lifetime of people dismissing your (freeform larp / "storygame" / Erzählspiel) game tradition as "not really games" in part due to their community's gender, then you see where I'm coming from.
Indeed. The purchaseable *product* we call the TTRPG begins in the 1970s with Western Gunfight, Chainmail, and D&D.

Yet role-playing "parlor games," simulations, and similar are centuries old and draw from a well that resembles all the positive stuff about D&D.

Parlor games were feminized...

"what is not said about Stilwell . . . is the most revealing and renders this hagiographical account in dire need of improvement."

Modern left/liberal intellectuals have a deeply tedious habit of waxing hagiographical about the need for firm social structures to keep the masses in line that they clearly don't think should apply to themselves.
reading books that keep getting upset about modernity breaking up communities. but 'community' being presented as an unalloyed good is always a red flag to me. many communities are bad! community can mean family, love, friendship but it can also mean insularity, clannishness, spite, shaming.

She's not telling people to unify.

She's telling them to bow down and submit to violent paramilitaries who are acting on the orders of her husband.

(She's also really bad at this, and is only on TV to promote a hagiographical film about her that's worthy of the DPRK, but that's beside the point.)
Melania Trump: "We need to unify. I'm calling for unity."

It could be Germanicus… it’s so hard to say because the sources are like, hagiographical to the point of unreliability here lol. But I can’t imagine he does worse than Caligula

Yes.

You take obvious lies at face value, launch into a long digression into his personal history somewhere between “impressed” and “hagiographical”, give zero substantive pushback, and somehow conclude he’s “fighting to fulfill his birthright” rather than “he’s paranoid with a messiah complex”

A hagiographical "Donumentary" about the first lady - Melania Trump - has been released in UK.

So far the Vue in Leicester Square has managed to sell.... ONE ticket.

Clearly Mr Farage toom the afternoon off from Cameo.

The Manuscript of the Week is RIA MS 23 P 2, Leabhar Mór Leacain/the Great Book of Lecan. Compiled in A.D. 1397-1418, it contains a large amount of genealogical material, as well as historical, biblical and hagiographical material.

Listen - I am a medievalist and expert specifically in hagiography (90% of the sources in my book and dissertation were hagiographical).

Both hard and soft "g" are correct. Different folks pronounced Latin differently in different times and places.

the reason that all hagiographical art is just bad is that it isn't made out of spite. it doesn't capture how it felt to live under the rule of someone who just sucked and pretty much every ruler everywhere has sucked at least some of the time
it's kinda incredible how much art is made specifically to talk shit about a person or people in power.

the aenid, metamorphosis, citizen cane, the prince, the art of war, the prequel trilogy...

the list goes on and on

Another example of voters constructing a fake and totally implausible version of Trump and voting for it.

The right-wing media's hagiographical portrayal of Trump as a genius tycoon is one of the most successful large-scale propaganda efforts in history. Even then, this is some amazing delusion.
Laid-off IRS employee said he had voted for Trump: "I thought that someone with his business acumen would have come in with a fine-tooth comb and actually found it instead of coming in with a wrecking ball and destroying people’s lives for no reason."

The Manuscript of the Week is RIA MS 23 P 12, the Book of Ballymote. It was compiled in AD 1391 at Ballymote, Co Sligo and contains genealogical, historical, topographical, biblical and hagiographical material. One of the most visually striking sections is a key to the Ogham alphabet.

I mean, I assume that this is what’s happening, and Hollywood hasn’t made a hagiographical movie about a notorious pedophile. People wouldn’t go and see something like *that*, right?
April 28, 2026 at 7:41 PM
Of course we should do *honest* historical retrospectives, unlike the nearly universal hagiographical delusions about Reagan that emanate from most Republicans.

You should be exiled to the wastelands like in Thunder Dome if you try to be hagiographical about that time.

Appreciate rhe artwork quality but I wince at the hagiographical imagery. Trump gets too much of that.

Dear Democrats,

Y’all know you don’t have to release any statement about Cheney dying, right?

That your choices aren’t “tweet out he should rest in piss lol” or “solemn and hagiographical eulogizing”. You can always just not say anything.
