Or at least, I hoped it would! How fitting would it be if I was to finally find a hagstone for #ROCKTOBER2026, when I was going to visit the Rocher Percé ("pieced rock"), in Percé, Quebec, Canada?!

Wouldn't that be great?

Appropriately we are staying near the most haunted house in Ireland , Loftus Hall, for Hallowe’en. But spending our time on the Hook fossil hunting and perhaps even having a quick dip. #samhain #speirgorm #spéirgorm

AT SOME POINT along the way, after I'd collected a good many rocks, my BROTHER (who'd also been looking for pierced rocks on my behalf) stumbled across one and gave it to me! :O

It was barely more than a pinhole that daylight could make it through, but I finally had my hands on a hagstone!!! Woo!

ANOTHER HAGSTONE! Sweet!

This one was more obvious than the others, but I still didn't notice that the hole went all the way through until I re-examined the rocks when I after returned home.

A 200 million y/o ammonite, a hagstone + numerous other treasures - this is a fantastic tiny museum. Great work!

Can list all the exhibits in the tiny museum if you like but they incl. a hagstone from Seaham & a 200 m yr old ammonite from N Yorks, 1930s painted lead toy miniature rabbit & snowdrops & a ~100 year old Tasmanian trochus/maireener shell 🗝️

Women Who Run With the Wolves has always been an inspiration to me, read about La Loba in the Hagstone Journal.

I should also mention that for the last while, something I'd been searching for was a *"hagstone"* -- a rock that has not just an indentation and pores like the one in the last post, but one that was actually pierced though...

And 2026 was the year it would finally happen! :O

my phone shut off, telling me that it had overheated, despite being cool. Weird and spooky, on this Halloween #ROCKTOBER2026 day!

I'd only noticed after getting home, but this was also **another hagstone**... although the hole doesn't go straight through but in one face, and out to a side edge.

I found a hagstone with a heart shaped cut out while walking beaches, some shells that are translucent, some with fossils. #photography #shells #beachwalk #nature

Scallop by Maggi Hambling, #BOTD in 1945. The epigraph to Hagstone is “I hear those voices that will not be drowned”, a quote from Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes, which is inscribed across the 12 foot steel sculpture on Aldeburgh beach.

There's a show called 'Hagstone or donut?' begging to be made.

Like Is It Cake, but with, er..hagstones and donuts.

It will have a dentist on standby because if you say 'donut', you have to bite through your convictions.

A Triple-holed Hagstone!!
Hagstones are rocks with naturally occurring holes in them - in this case they were likely formed by the actions of Wrinkled Rock-borers (Hiatella arctica) which are small marine bivalves.
