Pineapple coconut curry with rice and pan fried Chilean sea bass. I ate it paired with hakkaisan sake.

One of the best sakes out there. Very light and crisp.

Can’t tell which is better 🤔
Price wise, the blue bottle (tokubetdsu junmai, special pure rice sake) is higher 🤔
But I think I like the brown bottle (tokubetu honjozo, special brewed sake) better 🤔
Both, rice milling rate is 55%, are from Hakkaisan Brewery 😉

Some sake tonight from Hakkaisan. Part of a sample set in wonderfully shaped bottles. This is their Daiginjo and it is really quite good. It is not too dry, so I'm not sure I'd describe it as "crisp" per many tasting notes, but has a wonderfully pure flavour, almost of malt.

I usually prefer sake from northern Japan, but Harushika Extra Dry from Nara (more like Super Dry😋) is an exception. Another favorite is from Hakkaisan Brewery in Niigata (northern Japan)😊
Neither is even Ginjo, yet they are excellent and both among my favorites😊

小説でも紹介されているこの八海山宮野屋さん。蕎麦には胡桃が添えられていたり、山菜の盛り合わせや鯉のこく、よもぎの小豆など普通のお蕎麦屋さんではあまり目にしないメニューも。
そしてお隣の神社では明日があの有名なお祭りの日らしく今夜は前夜祭の準備でかなり賑わっていました。

Some building works mean my kitchen is in disarray. I thought some sake might restore the calm. This by Hakkaisan. It's a Tokubetsu Honjozo which is towards the lower end of the premium sakes. Slightly chilled it is really robust. A huge kick of alcohol. One for drinking with food, I think.
