We built one of those when I was 12 in my back yard with a hundred green soldiers to defend it along with tanks and halftracks. Thanks for the memories Donnie.

In 1944, Bell Labs engineers recorded fake armored divisions onto wire recorders. A secret Army unit played them through speakers on halftracks, audible 15 miles away, tricking German forces into believing divisions stood where none did.

Faced with new heavily armoured tanks, Germany scrambled to build tank destroyers to face them. The 7.62 cm F.K.(r) auf gp. Selbstfahrlafette (Sd.Kfz. 6/3) cobbled together from unused halftracks and captured guns entered gunnery trials #OTD in 1941. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

The WW2 German 6-wheeled, 8-wheeled & halftracks, and the American halftracks, had mulriple variants. It wouldn't surprise me if these modern 8-wheeled upgraded equivalent all terrain vehicles also had 5-20 variants.

August 1955: The 9e Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique conduct a convoy movement through the desert between Biskra and Khenguet Sidi Nadji, Algeria.

M8 Greyhounds, M3 halftracks, and GMC CCKWs- not a lot of change from a decade prior!

Good looking kits Rob. The Tamiya halftracks were hard to get for a while but now look to be back in production. It'll be interesting to see how Andy's build up. All the best.

The Marx Battleground Convoy playset. Circa 1961 or so. The tan guys usually won, despite having no tanks or halftracks.

I am generally interested in vehicles of a specific type, rather than those of a specific side.
I really like halftracks, for instance - and light tanks with silly shapes (especially tankettes, and designs that were too impractical for production).

Can confirm that despite being designed for resin, these are achievable in fdm/filament printing.

Anyone got any crappy misprinted Panthers, Shermans, US or German Halftracks/Jeeps /Trucks in 28mm?

I want to make some snow-covered wrecks, so if you have some bad misprints just sitting on a desk... I'd be interested in hearing! Thanks!

Wheels of Liberation Plans Open House
The Wheels of Liberation museum, located at 1045 Barlow Two Taverns Rd., is planning its 3rd annual open house on June 27 and 28. The event will feature military vehicles, demonstrations (including Cromwell, Sherman, and T-34 tanks in working condition), living history displays, and other events. The museum has an enormous collection of military vehicles, including Allied WW2 tanks and tank destroyers, self-propelled guns, halftracks, armored cars, personnel carriers, field/anti-tank/anti-aircraft artillery, gun tractors, trucks, jeeps, staff cars, motorcycles, small arms, and uniforms. The special emphasis is on the contribution of Polish armed forces from 1939-1945, including the 1940 fight in France; Tobruk, North Africa (1941); Monte Cassino in Italy; the Normandy breakout; and Operation Market Garden. The museum is organized into galleries which feature the equipment of the original 1939 war in Poland; the 1940 battle of Narvik, France; the operations of the Polish Independent Carpathian Brigade in North Africa; the Polish 2nd Corps in Italy; and the Polish Armored Division in the ETO. “We want people to be aware of the contributions Polish fighter made,” said museum director Miroslaw Hrycak. “But we also want to show the vast arrangements of vehicles the Allies used at various times of the war.” Many vehicles will be outdoors and in running order. The museum has a large workshop in New Oxford where a corps of volunteers works to get vehicles into working condition. Ticket prices are $20 for a one day ticket, $30 for 2-days, with discounts for seniors, youth under 18, and active-duty military, veterans, or first responders. The museum isn’t yet open to the public but the crew maintains an active schedule of demonstrations at events like the recently completed Mid-Atlantic Air Museum show in Reading and Gettysburg’s Memorial Day parade.

They used another Tiger despite it was strictly forbidden, or they used heavy special recovery halftracks and or a "Bergepanther" which was build to recover Panther and TigerI tanks.
June 3, 2026 at 8:42 PM
be sure, the german mechanics found a eay to get that tank free. They had special towing and crane halftracks, even combined in 2 or three units, to get heavy loads out of trouble. A Tiger I was worth of 10-15 medium PzKw.III or IV
June 3, 2026 at 8:35 PM
Even Tigers with relatively minor damage had to be left behind because unarmoured engineering halftracks could not be brought up to evacuate them and towing a Tiger with another Tiger inevitably resulted in a broken transmission. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

"Why couldn't the Germans keep US halftracks from advancing under fire?"

I think maybe the fucking quad-mounted fifty-cals these things were packing might have had something to do with it

-as the train left, the 2 factions begin to attack each other but the tan had the upper hand with their tanks and halftracks-

So like, I have 8 3d printed halftracks that I used to use as proxies for the taurox.
I couldn’t make those lists work with a chimera cost unit, and if I’m putting regular guardsmen in them (which I am) the firing deck doesn’t really help thst much.
May 12, 2026 at 7:44 PM
I was already using halftracks as taurox proxies and now I’m very confused as to what to do but man I do love the models
