You ever open your browser the next morning after a lot of edibles and find all the tabs you opened in your extremely esoteric rabbit hole and think "what the fuck is HamStudy dot org??"

I love leaving myself insane little artifacts

Still grinding on my General ham license study and feeling almost ready! Using a mix of HamRadioPrep, HamStudy, and the ARRL book. Hoping to pass before DEFCON so I can roll in with General class privileges. Let’s gooo.

I think I’m ready for my General ham license test this month! Used the ARRL book, Ham Radio Prep, and HamStudy way more involved than the Tech I passed last year. Aced today’s practice with 80% aptitude. Maybe Amateur Extra next year after I finish my CCSP! #HamRadio #AmateurRadio #Radio

HamStudy also has an app, though there's a cost involved with the app. However, all the money goes to SignalStuff and then either to keeping the website alive or used in other good ways. You're not buying from a faceless corpo here, and the software is genuinely helpful.

The ARRL study guide and the HamStudy app worked well for me. I read through the book, worked out the practice problems, and then quizzed myself and took practice exams on the app until I was consistently scoring above 30/35.

I feel like I've been playing in amateur radio long enough now that I think I should try to get my Technicians license and fully dive in.

I have a lot to learn though. I've been looking at HamStudy and I really don't know hardly anything. I've got a lot of studying ahead of me!

Y'all got any tips?

HamStudy is great! That plus the ARRL book are how I studied for my tech exam.

I've got an app called "HamStudy" and the two ARRL books, both of which were pretty helpful.
November 17, 2025 at 3:14 AM
And the ARRL doesn't sell the 2026-2030 edition until July.
You still have 2 1/2 months, so it's doable. (I took my Extra exam under a similar ticking clock)
Hamstudy is free and has both question pools available, so I'd just take the YouTube class and study with Hamstudy.

There’s also Hamstudy, which is free and tracks your progress on how well you are learning different areas.

I'm plugging away at the ham radio tech license handbook and memorizing all the test answers on hamstudy (as you do)

AntScope, QRZ Assistant, Mobilinkd TNC+APRSdroid and HamStudy. I have a couple SOTA apps on there and despite fairly frequently working from places that count as summits I haven't yet set up an account. Far and away AntScope is what I'm most frequently using.

The nice thing is the entire test question pool is open - that's how hamstudy works, you have the actual questions in front of you and there are some tricks in the hints/etc for the more complex problems. An amateur radio license is just a license to learn.

Watts and volts are not independent of each other. Watts cannot exist without volts since they are the product of a combination of volts and amps.

Yeah, HamStudy is great! But this stuff is so foreign to me that I want to make sure I fully understand everything, especially when it comes to working with electricity.

HamStudy is my main resource and this book with be more for further reading on things I don't quite understand.
