Winnie-The-Pooh by A. A. Milne 🍯

Typeset originally made by Mourning Mountain Bindery, who was generous in allowing me to use it. Cover is faux leather with gold foil. Endbands are handsewn with silk yellow and green threads.

My spouse bought a magic the gathering secret lair drop a while back called Secret Lair x Global Fund For Women: Their Magic is Limitless. I thought the art on the package was so pretty that I cut it out and put it into a book cover.

Sinclair Sting

After weeks of health problems, technical glitches, and other fu*king delays, we've finally got the first few proof pages printed.

That big space on the bottom? That's where I'll write a little custom message for everyone who pre-orders the paperback.

The Hangman by Maurice Ogden

I converted this poem into a book. It’s a haunting story I felt more impactful than “First They Came” poem by Niemoller.

This book will be available at the Summer Solstice Market at The Obscure on 6-16-26. #thehangman #poetry #bookbinding #firsttheycame #handmadebook

Ubik by PKD
📺⏰⏳

Went all out on this one. LOTS of work: Hand painted end papers, original cover design, typeset made in MS Word, custom vintage ads, hand sewn endbands, and chisel-trimmed fore edge.

#ubik #bookbinding #handmadebook #handboundbook #fanbinding #scifi #philipkdick #typesetting

A book titled Ubik is shown against a blue-green background. The book is open in such a way that the entire hard cover is on display. The book is wrapped in canvas that is printed with a colorful design. The design background is a peach yellow. The front cover shows a flat painted image of a spray can labeled “Ubik” depicted in vibrant colors of green, pink, red, and blue, but the image is purposefully distorted, as if misprinted and smeared. The spine title and back cover illustration are similarly distorted. The back cover shows what looks like a vintage advertisement for Ubik, but the text is blurred to the point of unreadability. The ok not readable text is at the top, which is written in red cursive: GOOD AS NEW.

The book Ubik front cover has been opened to display the front end paper. The end paper is hand painted in bright and vibrant colors of yellow, green, blue, gold, copper, and red. The colors swirl like smoke, blending into each other.

The book is opened and turned to the table of contents page. The contents page is designed as a grid of squares, each labeled with the chapter number and the page range of those chapters. For example, chapter 8 ranges from page 122 to 141. Also within each square is a black circle with a white icon inside each. The icons show different objects, such as a toaster, a bra, a bank, a bowl of cereal, etc.

Looking at the top edge of the book, we can see a close up of the hand sewn endband that sits at the top of the book’s spine. The endband is sewn in shiny brown cotton thread.

Hozier Lyric Book

Worked on this all day on 12/27/24. Trimmed the edges, sacrificed some blood to the bookbinding gods, sewed endbands, and printed the end papers and cover.

Original typeset by me.

I never understood the point of the corner bookmark. Seems like you'd lose it too easy. But this one I made from #makingzen is super cute and it works great in my watercolor sketchbook. This is the cover of the Australian piano hinge watercolor sketchbook I made.
