Small Copper seen in the meadow along with a few Harebells. Sulphur Tufts growing at the woodland edge. Birds seen from the garden in the last couple of days include Red Kite, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Peregrine and a very elusive Marsh Tit.

A Sèvres porcelain two-handled cup (gobelet à lait), circa 1761. So big you need two handles. Missing the cover and saucer, but still worth having because the decoration is rather fine.
A SÈVRES TWO-HANDLED CUP (GOBELET À LAIT) WITH DATE MARK FOR 1761 A two-handled porcelain cup manufactured circa 1761, decorated with a frize riche gilt red and blue trellis and rocaille pattern on a blue lapis ground below the rim and with swags of scattered flowers along the perimeter. Both handles are decorated with blue lines and gilt harebells, the cup with gilt dentils on both the exterior and interior rim. Under the cup are interlaced Ls in underglaze blue with the date mark H for 1761. Incised mark of an L.F. possibly the mark of the répareur Louis Lefief. Side view, with one of the handles. The first examples, most with knopped lid and underplate, appear in 1752; the form remained popular through the 1770s. Quite a combination of rococo decoration above and plain flower swags below.

My #FavouritePlant this year was the Harebells at South Gare on the River Tees Estuary in mid-July during the drought, because they were the sort of spectacular display of abundance and diversity that people go abroad for and we had it here in the Tees Valley #WildflowerHour

Common Toadflax, the only snap I took today on a wander over the dry lands, which are only just starting to recover. The grasses are greening but the flowerage is pitiful. Stunted Knapweeds & Hawkbeards/bits/weeds, a few shrivelled Harebells & some Small Scabious.

A little colour to start the day in the form of some lovely harebells.

The sky has been leaking quite a lot here so far - which is, it has to be said, a very welcome change. Alas, though, it was a bit too early in the day to go out and dance in it. (I was tempted, all the same!)

So this is the concept; flower tags that can be put together to make banners. Not original to me, but my take.

Anyway. Virginia harebells (rounder than the Scottish ones).
A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing for a label or hanging tag banner design. The main design is a letter of the alphabet, with wildflowers behind it that start with the same letter. In this design, the letter is an H, and the flower is harebells. The stringing hole of the tag (marked with cutting dashes) is in the center of the sun and blue sky background. The flowers are blue-purple, with thin leaves and stems. The H is in an art nouveau font, and filled with a repeating harebell flower pattern. The tag is outlined in blue-violet, with dashes indicating the cutting line for making it into a hanging tag. Underneath the label, hand lettering reads: “HAREBELL (Campanula rotundifolia L.) Virginia wildflowers”. This is part of a planned series. Flower reference: US Forest Service (.gov), public domain photos. H is for harebells.

This is a small clump of harebells on the edge of the Old Course at St Andrews.
A small, unassuming flower, this is the famous Scots Bluebell of song and story.
Quite different to the English bluebell, which is known hereabouts as wild hyacinth.
