#hazlenuts
three swims in four days, reckon I'm back in the saddle again as Gene Autry would say, also V and I had a late cafe lunch - get this, smashed avo toast with crushed, roasted, hazlenuts, red onion, lemon juice, ricotta and parmesan shavings - now that was a thing :)

Thanks Paula 🤗 ✨ Hope your day was good too. I've been poking about in woodland, finding dormouse-nibbled hazlenuts, watching a heron hunting in a stream and a pair of ravens up on a cliff.
Will sleep well tonight! 😂😴💤xx

Nice! I have seen hazlenuts on trees here I have never seen produce them before. Not sure why with the weather we have had really. When I was married we had beaked hazlenuts on our land, which I had never seen before.

Rather optimistic with my chosen container for gathering my Hazlenuts #redfilbert
A harse prune last year removed a lot of catkins which drive nut growth.
It's a very vigourous tree, unfortunately our hawthorn has died due to Fireblight, and the magnolia is shedding leaves at an alarming rate.

Cracking nuts is so satisfying ha (ripened a few foraged hazlenuts at home). Crushed them with pistachios and the last of my foraged walnuts from last autumn. They’ll make a nice healthy addition to my breakfast porridge
😁🌰

and you could roast your own hazlenuts but you still need to extract oils from them which needs a oil press i think

feel free to tell me how it went if you ever try it but im also down to try and help find cheaper sources of good quality syrup

My mint's flowering but the oregano isn't yet

Herbs are the only edibles I grow, but it's great to be able to go out and pick them fresh 🥰

There are apple and cherry trees, hazlenuts, blackberries and sloes, but 'something' usually gets there before we do!

I've just uncovered this round mossy nest in a wild bit of my garden as I was cutting back shrubbery. Is is a Bank Vole nest? There were the remains of some hazlenuts nearby. I've made a protective cover of prickly branches over it. @BritishMammals...

Easy one! Trader Joe’s dried mango, or their dark chocolate with hazlenuts, Gem Gem’s ginger candy, and Orchard Harvest dark chocolate covered almonds. Oh, and sometimes Snyder’s sourdough hard pretzels.

I don’t do it!!! I’ve just stood for 40 mins & skinned hazlenuts & could weep at the effort: it’s not me!

I’ve been making this chicken salad for dinner recently and hand to god the secret is dates. Chicken, tomato, cucumber, Hazlenuts, feta, balsamic, and DATES. They’re delicious.

When I'm anxious about the ecomy sometimes I buy trees. On our property now we have two apples, a peach, two apricots, two hazlenuts, and a pecan.

Very fortunate to have this option, I know. And looking at these trees today is a reminder that some of my worry has been wasted before.

"Hazlenuts are brain food. They are good for your brain."
-me, eating a 2nd spoonful of Nutella.

me: please we just need to grade five of these then we can do something fun

brain: why are hazlenuts the only nuts you never see in salty dishes? is it the price? aren't pistachios just as expensive? how much are pistachios anyways? maybe it's the flavor profile

@justrena I like mine with Hazlenuts. The best of the Mesolithic and the 2PR in a bowl!

honestly sure I'd rather not eat a product whose ingredients are harvested by child labor (ferrero hazlenuts) and at the expense of imperiled ecology (palm oil) but even if you make it at home: this ingredient balance is good and fine

And I thought hazlenuts came from trees

I am making a very simple and yet epic summer salad with these: arugula, grilled halloumi, toasted hazlenuts, the sweetest tiny cherry tomatoes, bresaola, some pine nuts why not.

peanut allergies are absolutely rife here too - I think they're more prevalent than allergies to eg hazlenuts but i could just be extrapolating from my own household
August 22, 2024 at 11:42 AM
I don't eat them, but I usually see walnuts as a popular one. But in my house, it's hazlenuts! And pecans! (Wait, are those a nut? I dunno)
