Nee niet daar. Wel bij Bronbeek herdenking vd torpedering vd Junyo Maru en andere hellships. Mijn opa kwam daarbij om. En op 15 augustus ben ik een keer samen met mijn moeder bij het Indisch monument geweest. Bevrijdingsdag overzee: voor oma, ooms en moeder. Beide herdenkingen waren indrukwekkend.

Wrak van Japans vrachtschip Hofuku Maru gevonden bij Filipijnen
Onderzoekers hebben waarschijnlijk het wrak van het Japanse schip de Hofuku Maru teruggevonden voor de kust van de Filipijnse regio Zambales. Dit schip zonk in 1944 tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog na een Amerikaanse luchtaanval. Aan boord waren destijds honderden Nederlandse en Britse krijgsgevangenen. Het onderzoek naar het wrak werd uitgevoerd door de Hellships Memorial Foundation, met steun van de Nederlandse Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed. Het wrak op vijftig meter diepte wordt nu officieel erkend als een oorlogsgraf. Uit respect voor de overledenen zal het schip niet worden geborgen of opgegraven. Nabestaanden zijn ingelicht over de vondst en er wordt gezocht naar een passende manier om de slachtoffers gezamenlijk te herdenken.
