Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum in Ilfov, Romania The Village Museum is an open-air ethnographic museum located in the Herasträu Park, showcasing traditional Romanian village life. The museum extends to over 100,000 m2, and contains 272 authentic peasant farms and houses from all over Romania. It was created in 1936 by Dimitrie Gusti, Victor Ion Popa, and Henri H. Stahl. An 18th century wooden church with a tall spire and yellowing trees around it.

Coffee + Women's Day mint chocolate after = perfect finish.
Below-zero temps in early March. The group showed up anyway.

Race week is mostly about doing less. Showing up, moving easy, trusting the work.

Rain on the pavement, hat pulled down, jacket zipped up. 7.23 km easy through Herăstrău, the De Gaulle statue keeping watch over a quiet, wet park.
These are the runs that don't make the highlight reel. No big workout, no race, no PB attempt - just showing up when the weather isn't asking you to.

Bucharest has more lakes and green space per capita than almost any capital in Europe. Nobody talks about this. They talk about Ceaușescu's palace and the traffic. The lakes are better than both.

Hace unos meses fui al parque Herăstrau a echar la tarde con Amira. Comimos uvas y ciruelas, vimos cómo la tarde caía sobre el lago, y descubrimos esta escultura tan chula, una representación de la arquitectura. Hoy, a modo de despedida, me ha traído este cuadro pintado por ella. Vivan las amigas. ❤️

An unedited photo of a statue of a woman dressed in traditional Romanian clothes. Her head is tilted to the right, as with her right hand is holding a pitcher on her left shoulder. The statue is on top of a water fountain (not present in the pic) called Modura, dedicated to the girl that gave water to King Carol the 2nd after the plane he was in suffered a forced landing near the Vadul Crișului village, in 1930. The King was flying from Munich to Bucharest, via Wien, when the plane started to lose altitude due to loss of fuel. After the event, the girl was brought to Bucharest and was part of the Royal suite, with her face also appearing on some banknotes and one coin. The current statue is a 2005 reconstruction of the original monument, as the original was lost for many years after the communists decided to build a statue of Stalin in that place.
